As a recipient of the UW Bothell Study Abroad Ambassador Scholarship, I embarked on an unforgettable journey this Early Fall 2023 in London. I’m thrilled to share glimpses of my global experience, hoping to inspire and assist fellow UWB students considering a similar adventure.

Preparation and Expectations:

Preparing for studying abroad can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. I vividly remember the mix of emotions I felt when I first considered this opportunity. The unknown thrilled me while also raising a multitude of questions. If you’re feeling this way, trust me, it’s absolutely normal!

Reflecting back, here’s what I wish I knew before stepping onto this journey:

Embrace the Unfamiliar:

London is a vibrant city of history and culture. Embrace the diversity and uniqueness of this city. Don’t hesitate to explore off the beaten path; that’s where the real magic lies.

Connect with Locals:

Engaging with locals not only deepens cultural immersion but also helps break cultural barriers. From sipping tea in a local café to striking up conversations in markets, these interactions will give you the most memorable experiences.

Flexibility is Key:

Plans might change, and that’s alright! Stay adaptable and open-minded. Some of my most cherished moments came from spontaneous detours and unexpected adventures.

Allow me to whisk you away into snippets of my favorite moments captured through my lens:

The Big Ben:

Borough Market:

Buckingham Palace:

Oxford:

Seven Sisters Cliff:

If you’re contemplating a study abroad experience, I urge you to take the leap. The lessons learned, friendships formed, and personal growth are immeasurable. Embrace the uncertainties, soak in the experiences, and cherish every moment. I hope this glimpse into my study abroad journey sparks excitement and provides valuable insights.
